The Morning Abhyanga: A Ritual of Self-Love
I wake up most mornings before the sun rises. Not because I have to, but because I want to. Those quiet hours belong to me, and to a practice that has changed everything about how I move through my days.

Healing the World, One Ritual at a Time
We make things simply. Herbs, oils, clays, and time. No fillers, no shortcuts, no ingredients you can't pronounce. Just formulations that have worked for centuries, made with care, for people who want to slow down.
Vayastyag started with a refusal. A refusal to keep buying products full of things we can't name, made by people who don't know us, for skin that deserves better.
Everything we make is rooted in Ayurveda. Not as a trend, but as a practice. Herbs that have been used for generations. Oils that the body actually recognises. Formulations that work slowly, the way real healing does.
And because we believe care should extend outward, 5% of all profits go to women's charitable institutions and causes. Healing isn't just personal. It's collective.
We don't think skincare needs to be complicated. Or fast. Or full of things you have to Google.
Bhringraj. Amla. Calendula. Multani mitti. Things that have been used for centuries because they actually work. Nothing synthetic, nothing unnecessary.
We make in small quantities on purpose. No water added to bulk things up. Just concentrated formulations, made with attention.
5% of profits go to women's causes. Because we think the kind of care we put into our products should extend to the world too.
Eight things. Each one made for a specific purpose, with specific ingredients. Nothing extra.

A Guide
Not sure where to start? Find what your skin or hair actually needs.
01
Skin that feels greasy, congested, or easily reactive often benefits from lighter hydration and gentle cleansing rather than aggressive stripping. The instinct to over-clean usually makes things worse.

Gulab Dew
Lightweight hydration that balances without heaviness

Snaan Bar
Removes buildup while maintaining the skin barrier
Ubtan
Softly exfoliates congested skin without harsh scrubs
Keep in Mind
02
Dry skin needs nourishment, barrier support, and slower forms of hydration that stay with the skin longer. Oils and concentrated preparations work better here than water-heavy creams.
Snaan Oil
Deeply nourishing body oil with calming botanicals
Shat Dhuat Ghrit
Traditional ghee cream for sensitive and dry skin

The Balm
Concentrated care for dry patches, lips, and cuticles
Keep in Mind
03
When skin feels tired, rough, or lacks brightness, gentle exfoliation and consistent nourishment help restore balance over time. Brightness comes from skin health, not from scrubbing harder.
Ubtan
Traditional grains and clays that polish skin naturally

Gulab Dew
Adds lightweight hydration and freshness after exfoliation

Snaan Bar
Gentle daily cleansing that does not strip
Keep in Mind
04
Skin that feels irritated or easily overwhelmed responds best to minimal, calming care. Fewer products, applied slowly, with time to observe how your skin responds.
Shat Dhuat Ghrit
Washed ghee cream known for its soothing, cooling feel

The Balm
Protective nourishment for dry or compromised areas

Snaan Bar
Simple, gentle cleansing for everyday use
Keep in Mind
05
Scalp nourishment and consistency are more important than aggressive treatments. Most hair fall responds to regular oiling, gentle cleansing, and patience more than anything else.
Kesh Oil
Bhringraj, amla, and brahmi to support scalp and roots

Kesh Bar
Gentle cleanser designed to maintain scalp balance
Keep in Mind
06
For humid weather, heat, sweat, and skin that feels easily congested. The goal in summer is to keep things light, clean, and balanced without abandoning care altogether.

Gulab Dew
Cooling, lightweight hydration for hot days

Snaan Bar
Refreshing gentle cleanse without stripping
Ubtan
Weekly skin reset to clear congestion and dullness
Keep in Mind
Care is not a routine. It is a rhythm.
There is a difference between going through the motions and actually being present with yourself. Oiling your hair. Massaging your body before a bath. Mixing your ubtan fresh, by hand, before you apply it. These aren't steps in a regimen. They are small acts of paying attention.
Warm oil, slow circles, a few quiet minutes. Bhringraj and Brahmi have been doing this work for centuries. Let them.
Abhyanga, the practice of self-massage with oil, is one of the oldest forms of self-care in Ayurveda. Long strokes, circular joints, ten minutes before your bath.
Your skin should never feel stripped after washing. If it does, something is wrong. Our bars and cleansers clean without taking more than they should.
Damp skin absorbs better. A little oil or balm after bathing goes further than you'd think. The skin is ready. Use that.
None of this takes long. It just takes showing up.
Notes on Ayurveda, ritual, and the practice of slowing down. Written by Asavari Bhardwaj.
I wake up most mornings before the sun rises. Not because I have to, but because I want to. Those quiet hours belong to me, and to a practice that has changed everything about how I move through my days.
My grandmother used to oil her hair every single week. I remember watching her, sitting cross-legged on the floor, working the oil through her long, thick braid. I thought it was old-fashioned. I was wrong.
There's something about mixing your own face mask that feels almost sacred. Maybe it's the act of creation. Maybe it's the intention you stir into it. Maybe it's just that it forces you to slow down.
Why we started, and what we're trying to do
Vayastyag was born from a simple question: what if we let go?
Let go of the long ingredient lists. The preservatives. The synthetic fragrances. The products that promise everything and deliver very little. We wanted to go back to what actually works. And what works, it turns out, has been around for a very long time.
Every product we make is waterless where possible. Concentrated. Made in small batches so nothing sits on a shelf for years. The ingredients are ones you can look up, ones your grandmother might recognise.
We also believe that taking care of yourself and taking care of others aren't separate things. That's why 5% of all profits go to women's charitable institutions and causes. It's a small percentage, but it's a commitment we take seriously.
If you've found us, we're glad. Take your time with the products. They're not meant to be rushed.
Welcome to Vayastyag.
